Let’s start from the beginning… I was a young lad in the 1990s when I drove to my landlord’s home to pay the monthly rent. It was an upscale neighborhood and he lived in a new big house, His rental property was an older triplex in an older neighborhood. I asked him why he had this older rental property as he had a construction company and doing very well, I was not expecting his answer to make such an impact on my life… He told me that if the country took a downturn, he and his family would lose his big house and that by having the older triplex (He outright owned), his family would always have a roof over his head and not be homeless. His reply was pretty straight forward and stuck in my mind launching me on my journey to becoming self reliant ….
